PANA –To promote economic development, Pana will see $38,000 in relief grants thanks to the support of State Senator Doris Turner.

Through the Research in Illinois to Spur Economic Recovery (RISE) program, Pana will see a grant to help local governments and economic development organizations develop and create plans to foster relationships with businesses.

“This funding will give the City of Pana additional support to develop plans to maximize opportunities for collaboration between the city and local businesses,” Turner (D-Springfield) said. “Our goal is to empower municipalities to collaborate to spur economic growth.”

RISE empowers local governments to create meaningful plans with a focus on specific initiatives and investments that support recovery from the pandemic. The grants, funding through ARPA, will help improve quality of life for community members by taking a comprehensive approach to economic development through supporting the local workforce, improving affordable housing options and more.

“Investing in Pana will enhance and strengthen local businesses throughout Christian County,” Turner said. “We must continue to look for ways to recruit and retain businesses. This is a small way to support municipalities as they look for ways to foster economic growth.”
