A step in the right directionLast week’s meeting of Illinois’ legislative leaders and Gov. Bruce Rauner yielded a long-overdue conversation about the state’s budget and a promise to meet again in the coming days. Dec. 1 marked 153 days since the state last had a budget in place. Rauner, a Republican, has insisted on tying anti-worker initiatives to any budget discussions.
