Mulroe to host Foreclosure Prevention Workshop

p-mulroeSenator John Mulroe (D-Chicago) will be co-hosting a foreclosure prevention workshop Saturday, November 22 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Atrium at Wright College in Chicago (4300 N Narragansett, Chicago, IL 60634).  He will be joined by State Representatives McAuliffe and Martwick and 38th Ward Alderman Cullerton in hosting the event.

“I am pleased to continue to provide foreclosure prevention services to residents of the 10th district,” said Sen. Mulroe.  “The recession has affected everyone and it is important for people to get the information needed to help keep them in their homes during these difficult times.”

This free workshop is nearly the 60th of its kind to be held throughout Illinois since 2009 as an initiative of The Mortgage Relief Project (MRP).  MRP is a part of the Illinois Foreclosure Prevention Network and is dedicated to providing information and resources that can help homeowners take advantage of programs to lower their mortgages, avoid foreclosure and keep their homes.  MRP also provides information on legal rights, credit counseling and avoiding scam artists. In addition, homeowners can also take advantage of private, one-on-one housing counseling with HUD-certified counselors during the workshop.

“The foreclosure process can be intimidating,” Mulroe said. “These events allow homeowners to meet with teams of staff members from major lenders who can answer their questions and help take the fear and frustration out of the process.”

Homeowners interested in attending the event should bring the following documentation in order for IMRP to best serve them:

  • Mortgage statement
  • 2010 and 2011 W-2 and tax returns with all schedules
  • copy of rental agreement, if necessary
  • two months of recent paystubs
  • budget of household expenses
  • documentation of other income
  • two months of recent bank statements
  • recent utility bill
  • profit/loss, if self-employed (last six months)

To register for the event, for more information or to receive immediate assistance in advance of the event, please call IDFPR's toll-free consumer hotline 800-532-8785 during regular business hours or visit or
