Bush asks people to donate to food pantries to address increased need

food pantryGRAYSLAKE – In light of the current situation, State Senator Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) is asking people to donate food to local food pantries to help address increased need.

“With schools and businesses across the state closed, people have lost jobs or seen their incomes reduced. Some are now struggling to put food on the table,” Bush said. “Food pantries are struggling to keep up with higher demand and have no idea how long this will last, so it’s important that we help each other out during this troubling time.”

Bush is urging people who are able to donate to local food pantries in northern Lake County.

The following food pantries are accepting donations:

Wauconda Food Pantry
505 W Bonner Rd. Wauconda, IL 60084
Drop off is from 4-6 p.m., Thursdays or call (224) 430-4338 to schedule drop off.
Items needed: nonperishable unopened food, canned food, toiletries, etc.

Warren Township Food Pantry

Donation/ Assistance available 1-3 p.m. Friday, March 20 and 27.
Items needed: canned veggies, laundry detergent, boxed mashed potatoes.

10 people at a time will be served, all others will be asked to wait in their cars.
Donations to the donation box located outside township office door or call number provided.
Items needed: unopened nonperishable food, disinfectant spray, toilet paper, sanitary napkins, hand sanitizer, diapers, bleach, pine cleaner, bread, toothpaste, mouth wash.

For assistance Tuesday through Thursday, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., drive through to pick up food.
Items needed: Bar soap, toilet paper, and cash donations.
