Lightford joins Pritzker, Stratton for Women's History Month honors

lightford jb whm 032119 Several influential women were honored as part of a Women’s History Month celebration hosted by Governor JB Pritzker Thursday in the Illinois State Capitol rotunda. Senate Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford and Lt. Governor Stratton participated in honoring the work of women leaders across the state.

Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford served as emcee for the event; Gov. Pritzker praised Lightford as a champion for women, working families, and every single Illinoisan whose leadership on the minimum wage increase helped hundreds of thousands of women around Illinois and will lift more than 1 million of our fellow Illinoisans out of poverty.

Dr. Alicia Alexander, Kahala Clay, Wendy Pollack and Barbara Flynn Currie were honored for their achievements in the fields of education, community service, women's rights, justice and legislative work. Read the governor's statement about the honorees' accomplishments here.
