ELGIN – State Senator Cristina Castro (D-Elgin) released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration could not add a question about citizenship to the 2020 Census.
“The census is a sacred constitutional provision and it should be respected, not used to push a political agenda,” Castro said. “The census was created to find the most accurate data on all persons, not just citizens, and I’m happy to see that the Supreme Court didn’t allow this political intrusion to impact the accuracy of the census that we will use as a guide for the next decade.”
