Showcasing Illinois' best: the 2014 Illinois State Fair (VIDEO)

Every August, throngs of visitors descend upon the Illinois State Fairgrounds to take part in the eponymous event that is held on the 366-acre parcel of land that has hosted the State Fair for the past 120 years. Attendees, many from as far away as Texas, New York and California, flock to the event annually to see state fair standards like livestock competitions or the butter cow.

Illinois State Senators John Sullivan (D-Rushville), Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) and Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) weigh in on their experiences at the 2014 Illinois State Fair.

“We need the fair to showcase and show off what goes on in Illinois,” said Senator Tom Cullerton. “The fair brings everybody together … from north of I-80 to south of I-80 all into one place so we can all start talking and see the importance of agriculture throughout our state. It’s an absolutely wonderful time.”
