Four CPD officers remembered at Police Memorial Ceremony

Police Memorial

Each year, law enforcement officers from across the state come to the Illinois State Capitol to pay tribute to officers who were killed in the line of duty during the previous year. The annual event is usually at the Police Memorial statue on the Capitol lawn, but inclement weather put this year’s ceremony in the State Library.

“Their spirit lives on in each of us, within all the officers that are continuing to fight for us and protect us. Thank you for your sacrifice,” said Senator John Mulroe (D-Chicago) at the ceremony. “And to the families, you weren’t a part of the job, but we know the sacrifices you’ve made as well.”

Survivors and friends of the fallen officers joined their law enforcement colleagues and state officials for the services, which included honor guards, a rifle squad, and pipes and drums squads.
