The Illinois Legislative Black Caucus views Governor Rauner’s cuts as a direct attack on the working poor. On Thursday, June 25, the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus will hold rallies to fight for programs and services our community values.
Several organizations that serve communities who will suffer the most from the cuts will discuss how the lack of support increases crime, lowers our students’ opportunities to be qualified for good jobs and will leave people without heat during Chicago’s coldest months.
The ILBC is hosting three rallies throughout the Chicagoland area to ensure residents throughout the city can participate.
Below are details about the rallies:
- 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., L.C. Redmond South Austin Coalition, 5071 W. Congress Pkwy, Chicago
- 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., South Suburban College, Kindig Performing Arts Center, 15800 State Street, South Holland
- 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Chicago State University, Douglas Hall, Breakey Theatre, 9501 S. King Dr, Chicago
